«This hotel has created a school that offers education to more than two hundred children in the area. He is the only one who has done something like that, ”said the taxi driver as we approached the Tongabezi Lodge. And is that before going to Zambia and Victoria Falls We already knew that our experience in Tongabezi was going to be unique and exclusive, but that comment made us feel that the Tongabezi Lodge was going to be much more.
The Dog House bathroom
Tongabezi Lodge is an exclusive hotel located on the bank of the Zambezi river, just ten kilometers from the Victoria Falls in Zambia and next to National park Mosi-oa-Tunya. The exclusivity of this lodge is based mainly on the fact that it gives a very complete attention to the guests and on the comfort of the few villas that it has scattered along the Zambezi River. In the main complex, Tongabezi has eleven chalets of different sizes overlooking the river and of four exclusive chalets more in the Sindabezi Island.
We stayed in one of the four river cottages. The room is African-style with a very high thatched roof and charming colonial air decoration. The chalet is very spacious and is one of the least open in this resort, since there are totally open. Even so, at night you can perfectly enjoy the sounds of nature. The bed is huge and very comfortable. It has a large mosquito net and air conditioning on the canopy to better spend the summer nights.
The room includes all the amenities you would expect, such as a seating area with a sofa, a minibar with drinks included, a retro-style fan and a safe. The bathroom is also very spacious and has an open shower and a large old-style bathtub. A detail that I liked about lodge It is the integration with the environment and its green policy. I liked that the amenities The hotel is rechargeable, just like the bottles of water in the room. I thought it was great that they took recycling into account in such a unique natural landscape.
East is a resort deluxe, but of a luxury that is not based on ostentatious decoration, but on the way to pamper guests. To start, each villa has been assigned a personal butler which is responsible at all times to make your stay unique. Once accommodated in the room, a activity advisor meets you to plan what activities you want to do during your stay.
Victoria Falls in Zambia
The price of the room includes many activities, such as canoeing on the Zambezi River, sunset or sunrise cruises, visit Victoria Falls, visit Mukuni Park, fishing day, a romantic dinner on the river with candles or even safaris , among many others. Given all this offer, which ones did we do? Well, logically we chose to visit Victoria Falls, and then the Livingstone Museum. We also did a very quiet cruise on the Zambezi River at sunset and, something we liked very much: dinner with candles on the river.
Sunset cruise on the Zambezi River
On the other hand, you can also do many activities not included in the price, such as doing bungee jumping, fly over the Victoria Falls in ultralight or helicopter, make safaris through the Chobe National Park or bathe in the Devil's Pool on Livingstone Island. We did the latter and I can assure you that it has been one of the best traveling experiences we have ever lived.
